What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions have grown in popularity within the past few years. The eyelash treatments flooding the market are ranged from temporary to semi-permanent.
Different looks can be achieved with a variety of techniques that include:
One by one, single eyelash extensions
Few to one, volume eyelash extensions
One by one eyelash extensions make natural lashes thicker and longer by attaching individual synthetic (Mink/Silk) eyelashes to the natural eyelashes with a specially formulated bonding agent - eyelash extension adhesive. They are light to wear and with regular maintenance will give clients beautiful lashes for months on end.
How is the process carried out?
You will be asked to lie down with your eyes closed for the complete application.
Anti wrinkle gel pads will be applied to your lower lashes and under eye area. Micro pore tape will also be applied to secure any exposed lower lashes.
Lashes will be cleansed and primed before application begins.
Individual eyelash extensions will be applied directly to individual natural lashes one by one without contact with the skin.
It is a relaxing procedure and some clients even fall asleep during application.
What should I do before my appointment?
Please arrive without any makeup on your eye area
Do not use oil based products around the eye area on the day of application.
Have any lash tints at least 48 hours before your appointment.
What is the difference between classic (mink/silk) lashes and Ellipse lashes?
Both types of lashes are applied using the one on one method. One lash extension is applied to one natural lash.
Ellipse lashes are perfect for those who want a fuller, longer look without the added weight to your natural lash. Due to the flat base they are much lighter and softer than silk/mink lashes.
The Ellipse extensions give a more glamorous look.
Classic silk/mink lashes give a stunning natural look.
Do extensions damage natural lashes?
No. If extensions are applied with care to ensure they are individually and correctly applied they will maintain natural eyelash health.
Extensions should never be more than 2mm longer than the natural lash and you should follow the advice of your technician as to which width and length is best suited to your natural lash.
Never attempt to remove extensions yourself as this could damage your natural lashes.
How do you take care of extensions?
To keep extensions looking full for as long as possible it is important to follow the aftercare advice which will be given to you by your technician.
Do not get the lashes wet for 24 hours after every visit, this allows time for the glue to dry.
Don't steam your lashes for 48 hours (no hot showers, sauna, steaming facials)
Avoid oils and creams around the lashes. Avoid wearing foundation on the eyelids as this can loosen the bond and cause the lashes to come off.
Do not sleep with your face directly down into a pillow.
No mascara or liquid eyeliner to be used.
Avoid getting an eye infection by cleansing your lashes regularly using specific lash shampoo.
Avoid touching your eyes a lot. Rubbing and fiddling with them might prematurely remove your lashes.
Do not perm or tint your lashes.
Do not use eyelash curlers as they will break the glue bond.
How often should you have maintenance/infills?
To keep your lashes looking full and beautiful you should have maintenance appointments every 2-3 weeks to remove any grown out extensions or displaced extensions. New extensions will be applied to new lash growth.
This process takes approximately 1.5 hours.
